October 2024 Newsletter

Fall sports are in full swing with the playoffs fast approaching and winter sport registration has begun.  TAIAO has added the addition of E-Sports and One Act Play to our offerings and some additional information on TAIAO rules.

In This Edition:

Commissioner Update:

The worst part of my position is having to tell a Senior that he or she can’t participate in TAIAO because they are not age eligible because their organization is not clear on our age eligibility rules which were instituted in 2018.

Only athletes that have been “held back” in K-6 who have a transcript from an accredited private or public school can participate in TAIAO while being 18 before their senior year.

TAIAO follows UIL rules and I would encourage all organizations to search our website for the word “eligibility” to read many articles on the subject which will answer questions.

It has come to my attention that some teams would like to compete in our Junior Varsity division at the postseason tournaments.  This division is reserved for teams that already have a varsity team in our postseason tournament.

TAIAO determines our varsity divisions upon objective standard (like roster count) and our seeding using MaxPreps which is a third party ranking tool.

Friendly reminder as our postseason events start in October that all attending TAIAO events purchase their tickets online to avoid long lines and to remember that we DO NOT accept cash.  TAIAO accepts all major credit/debit cards, Venmo and PayPal.

TAIAO has begun the process of reviewing all varsity and middle school rosters.  The purpose of this is to help ensure organizations are properly classifying their athletes.  It has become evident this is necessary to ensure equitable compliance.

In the spring, TAIAO will partner with TCAF to participate in the One Act Play competition for fine arts.  Please be aware and send any questions you might have to me commissioner@taiao.org.  We will soon have information on our website as well.

Lastly, please remember to pose any questions you have about your sport to the committee members for your sport as our admin often does not have the answer to sport specific questions.  You can find a list of committee members and their contact information on our website.

God Bless … Coach Golemon
