Detailed Soccer Tournament Information

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the 2024 TAIAO Soccer Championship Tournament starting with play on 2/21/24 and 2/22/24

GATE TIMES & FIELD MAP:  

The gate will open at 11:15 am on Friday, February 21st for coaches and players and 11:30 am for spectators

The gate will open at 8:15 AM on Saturday, February 22nd for coaches and players and 8:30 am for spectators

ADMISSION:

Ticket sales will be conducted at the entry of each facility and can be purchased in advance by clicking here.  Daily admission will be $15 for adults and $10 for students (ages 6-18 children 5 and under are free).  Two day admission can be purchased for $25 dollars for adults and $15 for students. We will not be accepting cash.  Credit, Debit or Venmo are accepted. 

Two Day Family passes are $80 and must be purchased online before 5:00pm on Thursday, Feb 20th.  Click here to get your family pass.

Each team is allowed three team admissions for free (Coaches, Managers, Trainers, etc).  Click here to get team passes. These must be requested before 2/20 @ 5pm.

TOURNAMENT SHIRTS/FAN GEAR:

A limited supply of shirts will be made available at the gate. Shirts will be $20.00 and team names will be on the back.

TAIAO SOCCER TOURNAMENT RULES/GUIDELINES

TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES: 

On Friday there will be a coaches’ meeting 20 minutes prior to 12:00pm game start  time. We will be playing by UIL/TAPPS rules.  

DURATION OF GAMES: All games will employ 40 minute halves with a 10 minute half  time. In the event of a tie, there will be a shootout; no overtime play.

JERSEYS/UNIFORMS: Each team is required to bring second jerseys or pinnies. If the  refs determine that the colors are too close, the away team is required to change  colors. Home team is listed first on the schedule. 

GAME BALLS: The home team is responsible for two game balls.

BENCH PERSONNEL: The maximum number of adult bench personnel allowed in the  team bench area will be four (4).  

POOL SCORING SYSTEM: Teams only play 2 games in pool play.  Teams advance to the championship or consolation brackets and are seeded based upon the following point system:  

  • 3 points awarded for each win in regulation play  
  • 1 point awarded for each tie  
  • 1 additional point awarded for winning in a shootout  

TIE BREAKER for 2nd or 3rd place: In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used  (in the order listed) to determine the winner:  

  1. Fewest goals allowed during regulation play  
  2. Most goals scored during regulation play  
  3. Shootout between teams  

TEAM AWARDS: First place team will be presented with a trophy and medals for each  player. The second place team will receive medals for each player.

LIGHTNING OR THUNDER DISTURBANCES: TAIAO Tournament lightning guidelines  will be used when thunder is heard or lightning is seen by game or tournament  officials. Participants will be asked to take shelter in a building, car, or bus, and the  game will be suspended for at least 30 minutes.  

SAFETY & TIME CONDITIONS: In the event of inclement weather, unsafe playing  conditions, or any unexpected time constraints, the Committee will have the authority  to:  

  • Relocate or reschedule any game  
  • Change the duration of any game  
  • Cancel any preliminary game or reduce the number of scheduled games  • Determine an appropriate format for advancement of the playoff schedule  

SUSPENDED GAMES: If a game is delayed or suspended prior to completion of the  first half of play, every effort will be made to reschedule the game if it has a direct  bearing on advancement within the tournament. Suspended games will restart with the  same score and time remaining after the first half of play has been completed will be  considered an official game.  

CANCELED GAMES: Any game will retain its score at the time of cancellation
