Austin, Tx. – The Steering Committee of the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (“TAIAO”) announced a ruling on Friday, November 8, 2019 issuing penalties for TAIAO rule violations.

Austin Achieve School and Austin Royals Homeschool Organization were assessed penalties for fighting with each other during a football game between the two teams on Friday, November 1, 2019.

Austin Achieve Head Football Coach Mackee Mason was assessed a one game suspension, one year probation and a public reprimand. Three Austin Achieve Assistant Coaches were assessed one year probation and a private reprimand. Ten Austin Royals Coaches were each assessed a six game probation and private reprimand.

Eight Austin Achieve student-athletes and two Austin Royals student-athletes were assessed suspensions, probations and were disqualified from participation in post season All Star activities. Five Austin Achieve student-athletes and one Austin Royals student-athlete were assessed a private reprimand and were disqualified from participation in post season All Star activities. One Austin Royals student-athlete was assessed a half game suspension.

All penalized coaches are required to complete the NFHS Sportsmanship Training.
